Starting At Zero

Posted by Brittany Cochran on

Can I just take a momentย to acknowledge how new beginningsย are reallyย freakingย scary?

To even approach this subject in a written and very public way is even beyond the comfort zone that I am used to. Iย amย really into one on one conversationsโ€“I'm super social and I canย hold a conversation about anything with anyone. But being open and vulnerable onlineโ€“in writingโ€“yikes.ย That isย a lot for me. If I'm being real, this is a giant hurdle to get myself over. And this is my first attempt to do just that.

In theย process of getting Launch Party up and running I'm finding that it is stretching and growing me in ways I didn't realize it would. I am literally starting at zero. No followers. No customers. Just a dream and a fair amount of debt. Can you imagine?ย

In part, this is why I'm so passionate about working with independent brands. I connect deeply to the stories of entrepreneurs makingย aย products in their home kitchen, going to trade shows, flea markets, anywhere to get their products in front of customers. I can now relate in a very real way to their struggle and dedication. Thatย feelingย ofย launching a brand into the worldย when the outcome is very very much unknown.ย

I remind myself that everyone and every business has to start at the beginning, and find their way. Even J Lo wasn't built in a day! We're going to stumble, make mistakes, live,ย learn and grow. Whatever happens I'mย here for being honest, open and learning through it all.ย

We're Live! Come Party With Us!

Posted by Brittany Cochran on

This is a superย exciting moment for me! I can hardly believe this day is here! So many hours, days and months have been spent researching, prepping, learning, designing, creatingโ€“doing all the things to get a company off the ground. And now, finally! FINALLY!ย Launch Party is live!

First- a quick introduction. My name isย Brit Cochran and I'm the owner of this special little slice of internet main street. I have been a Makeup Artist and Hairstylist for the past 10 years. I've had an extremely fortunate careerย that allowed me toย travel the world and work with amazing people of all kinds. In myย makeup chair I've had models, celebrities, politicians, professional athletes, musicians, designers, editors andย brides. I feel so lucky to haveย fallen into this industry andย I have collected a treasure trove of memories and experiences.ย Ironically, this job is not glamorous like you might be thinking.ย To be honest,ย it's a lot ofย before dawn call times, brush washing and so much schlepping (my kit is a suitcase that weighs 65ย lbs). Whatย makes this jobย the best isย theย opportunity itย has givenย me toย meet a vastย array ofย humansย and to haveย one on one timeย toย connect withย each person that sits in my chair in a truly personal way.ย Over 10 years I've worked on thousands of faces and I've learned over and over how all people are incredibly unique. Andย I've always challenged myself toย reflect each personsย uniqueness in my artistry.ย

I don't remember when this became part of me, but forย many years I have dreamed of owning my own little shop. I have this quaintย visionย of myself wearing an apron and stocking shelves and placing fresh flowers on the cash wrap. It's so adorable, and clearly absurd. Because my experience creating thisย shopย has not ever been soย quaint and I've beenย smacked in the face with reality over and over again, as life tends to do. It's all good though, because through it allย I've held tightly to this simple desire to have a fun little home away from home, to connect with people, brighten their day,ย give a little inspirationย or at the very least, a smile and some delightful conversation. Because what it all distills down to is that I have a simple desire to connect with people through pretty little things that spark joy. Life is simple for me in that way.ย

So I created this shop for me and for everyone like me. First of all, Iย wanted to create a beauty experience that was modern, bold, bright and fun! I approach beautyย as a form of expression and entertainment. I really don't like when it's taken so seriously. It's supposed to make you happy, so let's have some fun with it, right?

I also wanted to create this shop to celebrate the ingenuity and tenacity of small independent business owners. I am in awe of their drive and passion to create a product and all the work it takes to make it a reality in this world. My dream is forย this site to beย a place whereย you can discover something you that you've never heard of before and absolutely love it so much.ย

And Iย wanted to create a beauty brand thatย recognizes beauty and personal care as an appreciative experience. It's not about looking a certain way or following certain trends. The time and resources youย investย in yourself is an important piece of caring for your personal wellbeing. (I haveย a personal experience in this matter that I will gladly share with you later).ย

Last, but not leastย I wanted to open a place that is above all friendly and approachable. There are too many beauty stores out there that are overwhelming with the products they are hawking. Andย these places will gladly sell you product regardless of wether or not it's the right fit. At Launch Party I want toย help you find theย exact productย you want, even if we don't carry it. But hopefully we do!ย Always feel free to reach out to me atย hello@shoplaunchparty.com for advice. For now, I'm literally the only employee, soย you know you've got the big boss lady on the line.ย

That, in a nutshell, is what it's about! Amazing products, supporting small businesses, killer service, and top tips. I hope you love it as much as me.
